| So I'm in my vector calculus class, right, and we're going over linearization of different dimensions (like 2 into 2 into 3 or whatever and all that technical jazz), and someone raised their hand and asked this gem.
Student: What are all those Is with bars over the tops? Teacher: Ts.

| Yup, I'm still alive. Just barely. Aquarium got patched but now my filter's not working (impeller isn't impelling, hmmm), and a new load of courses, too! This quarter I am taking:
Chemistry 1B - continuation of last quarter Vector Calculus, part 1 - oh boy! It's like physics and geometry, all in one! (note: for my major I'm only supposed to take part 1) Applied Discrete Mathematics - Yeah, same to you too, buddy. Intermediate Programming in Java - Here's hoping I don't get partners that randomly ditch me...again.
Plus I'm now working a different shift for my volunteer work; I'm now an Animal Care Assistant, which means that I give TLC and scoop litterboxes, and I get to go to a different room of cats in addition to the one I've been in, which is cool. Next fall I'm thinking I'll switch to dogs. It's not nearly as restful, though.
So far I'm trying to not get in the rut(s) I got into last quarter: slacking off on studying or homework, skipping the occasional class, getting mopey and unproductive, and wasting time in front of the computer (oops, here I am!). This time I will actually touch my books! This time I will do what I should have done for studying for finals, which is actually studying (worked on my math final, went from a D-ish to a B in the class from one test). This time I will try to be friendly to people I don't know (and maybe even a person or two outside of the animal shelter, heh). This quarter, I will do better! Or you know, not.
But you know, so far I'm off to a good start. I've applied for one summer job so far, and next I have to figure out how to ask for internships from various researchers in the Biotech industry (which is still really, really scary and I don't really know what to do...). So much to do....so much damn time to waste. Wish me luck!
| So I'm sitting here doing Chemistry homework, right? And then I notice that my mouse is in the middle of a puddle dripping from the bottom of my full, 10-gallon aquarium.
Apparently I had a leak. Fishtank-gate. Just as I was starting to get signs that my bacteria cultivation was going well (algae algae everywhere), dammit. At least my fish wasn't in it at the time. I'd pulled her out to treat her for some parasites she picked up because I was too dumb to quarantine my new plants I got a month ago. So the fish is fine.
And since I've brought some food from home in the past, all my plants and filter media (gotta save the bacteria it's taken this long to cultivate) are in a tupperware container and will be placed under a lamp, and a sizeable portion of damp gravel is in a margarine container (also to save aforementioned bacteria). So things aren't as bad as they could be. But damn, I did not need this right before finals.
Blehhh.
(My mouse was just fine, by the way. This definitely isn't the first time it's gotten soaked...)

| It's funny how even the so-called "smart" population (the university crowd *eyeroll*) can still be pretty dumb. Here're two examples of this:
The Avocado Girl: So I was getting some avocado slices from a bowl (yum) when this girl and her friend come up next to me and the girl says to her friend, "Are those guacamoles?" Her friend and I explained that these were avocados, but I don't think she really got it. It's like going up to a bin of tomatoes in the supermarket and asking whether those are ketchups.
Hello Kitty Wedding: So I'm walking through the lawn when I pass a guy and girl cuddling on the grass. The girl says to the guy (completely seriously too, I might add), "Would you want to have a Hello Kitty wedding?" Goodness knows what his response was. I smiled and continued on.
In not so happy news I'm really not getting along with my roommates and I'm thinking of getting a room change provided that they don't charge me money for doing so. My RA was really sympathetic but now I have to go through all the bureaucratic process, so it probably won't be until next quarter that I move. It's surprising to me to think that it probably would be pretty easy to just pack up and move, since I don't really have that much stuff. It'd be really nice to not be so miserable anymore, so yeah, a room change might be good.
| ...in the form of an itty bitty laptop that otherwise is used exclusively for schoolwork :)
So there I was sitting in class... Oh hey, a camera! So now I will give you all the tour: This is my room. It's a little messy and really really tiny. The room I live in was meant for two people, but they raised the ceilings so we don't get claustrophobic quite so much. This is where I sleep. Exciting, huh? This is my desk. Note the fish tank in close proximity to the computer. This is kind of a bad thing, but I haven't lost any machinery yet! This is how I feel about homework. Finally, this is my fish looking at herself in the little mirror. She's started sleeping by it :3 Anyways, that was the tour. It's hard to take pictures with this thing. I think I'm supposed to just take pictures of people, and only at myspace angles. Sigh. Any questions?
